Simply Stunning
So, I’ve been in Oxford for 3 days now and it is simply stunning! Before I came, a good friend of mine gave me some really good advice about studying abroad; she said: “drop expectations and just love it as is.” The thing is, Oxford is even better than I thought it would be. The city/university is very traditional with subtle touches of modernity. The people I’ve met so far...

It’s safe to say the one thing I don’t like about writing are those times when I have absolutely nothing to write about. It’s beyond frustrating. I just sit at my desk with my laptop screen glaring back at me with the cursor doing that stupid repetitive appearance and disappearance act. I drum my fingers on the edge of the keyboard and hope something brilliant will write itself;...

just a dream...
Inception came in the mail today on Netflix!!! Of course I’ve seen it before, but it’s just so good. I’m a huge fan of psychological thrillers and this one definitely does not disappoint. There are so many plot twists and the special effects are great. Most films that have come out recently are really predictable and that just makes for a boring movie experience. But I can...
Excitement
So studying abroad is really looking like a reality for this summer. I still have a few things to go and take care of in preparation for the program, but I’m so excited. I’ve always wanted to go to England and not to mention, I absolutely love the English accent and I can’t think of a better place to study English than in England at Oxford!!! Passport application, here I come!

spread your Wings
His sharp colorless eyes stare out through the glass jar. His wings are weighed down by the humidity of the air that’s trapped inside. The jar is opaque with thin streaks of filth circling it.
The jar sits out on the third step leading down from the front porch of the house. Leaves surround the base of the jar, reminding him of the world he’s cut off from. Gentle shades of mahogany...
Pajamas and a cup of Green Tea
In comparison, it’s a really minute part of my life, but it’s definitely one of the most enjoyable. Sitting on the couch alone with my thoughts - everyone else has already gone to bed - listening to really good soulful music (Sade and Lauryn Hill, just to name a couple of artists).
But I love this feeling of invincibility that flood my fingertips as I touch the tip of this felt-tip...
a part of the Dream
This is where I want to be next summer. I love being an English major; I love the freedom that I have to write and express myself through my words. I’ve recently realized that I cannot write using my laptop, I just feel so disconnected from my words and my characters and their stories. It’s a beautiful feeling being able to sit down with a pen and pad and write, just letting my words...
Simply Put
Blogging is pivotal for me… All the things I can’t squeeze into 140 characters, I can put it all here. All the things I don’t feel like saying aloud, I can scribble them down. I guess that’s writing period. I love doing this: the stories and poems and essays; it’s like they come alive underneath my pen and breath easily as the trot back and forth over their pages....

Dedication
You know how you can have those off days – when you sit at home staring at your computer screen hoping that five page essay will just write itself – and then you think to yourself is all of this really, worth, it. Sometimes when I have those days, I can’t help but think back to watching my mom with her everyday struggles and strife going to work all the time so she could give me a better life....
Unthinkable
So yesterday, I read the most ridiculous story I think I have ever heard. A woman in Florida killed her toddler son because his crying prevented her from watering her plants on Farm Ville. And if that weren’t enough, she stopped shaking him to smoke a cigarette, then began shaking him again.
After reading this, at first I was sad then just ANGRY!! I couldn’t understand how a mother...

Stopwatch
Sometimes I wish life could be run with a stopwatch that only I could control. Said stopwatch would also be able to return me to certain moments that did not end as well as they should have. I’ve never been one to live with regret, but sometimes I wish I could re-live moments and ensure that everything turns out okay.
I wish I could pause certain moments so I can clear my mind and escape...

Things That Come to Mind
Sitting - waiting - wondering. The three things that possess my afternoon. I’ve been in bed practically all day. Watching movies, talking to friends, looking up stuff online. Procrastinating as usual - you know, my normal Saturday routine. And I must say, it feels beautiful outside. I’ve only gone out a few times today, but it feels great. The wind is blowing, the sun is shining -...

Through the Trees
There it is. I can see the lush green fields – dew kissing the tips of the blades of grass. The sky is a deep shade of blue, with white wisps floating here and there. Trees stretch towards the sky and stroke the clouds, causing them to swirl back and forth in the sky. A quick breeze blows through – I can feel it graze my arms, causing the small hairs to stand and wave in the coolness. The sun...
Until the very...last...drop...
I love days like this. A fine mist coats my skin - carried by the breeze. Days like this, I wish I could stay home - cup of green tea on my nightstand - laptop in my lap - writing. Letting my mind travel to the deepest depths of my imagination - discovering some of the most implausible creatures.
My imagination exists in a distant land, filled with lush green fields, sky-scraping forests,...

I absolutely love to take walks - either alone, or with a good friend. They give me time to lay out all of the thoughts in my mind; which happens to be quite a lot. My thoughts are like precious gems buried deep in the Cretaceous mines of my mind.
I never really know what my next thought will be, but that’s the most exciting part. I get to surprise myself with intricacies and simplistic...
Stepping Stones
My mind has definitely been the lone passenger aboard a space shuttle through emotion and confusion. But in retrospect, it was worth it for this moment.
I’m definitely happy with where you and I are now. It feels great to be friends again - although our friendship never ended in the beginning - but I missed these moments.

Day 8: Least favorite character in a Stephen King...
Big Jim Rennie in “Under the Dome” is definitely my least favorite character. But I can’t deny how awesomely vile he is. He kills a pastor and the widow of the former police chief, but he is unflinching in his control over Chester’s Mill.
I think that’s why I dislike him so much. He lives through every page, solely for himself. If the town’s people suffer, he...
Day 6: Favorite character in a Stephen King story
My favorite character, isn’t actually a human. Christine was purely awesome to me. Not only was she a car, but she was a car with a vengeance. The love that she had for Arnie was frighteningly amazing. And the way Stephen King brought her to life and personified her was nothing short of brilliant.
Day 3: Favorite Stephen King book
“Under the Dome” is definitely my favorite. The plot is so creepy because who’s to say it couldn’t actually happen: A small town in Main is closed off from the rest of the world by an invisible/impenetrable dome. Talk about feeling claustrophobic.
Even though the book is pretty huge, it’s definitely worth the time it takes to read it. The way that the characters...

Day 2: What was the first book you read by Stephen...
Christine was the first book I read by Stephen King. It was also my biggest inspiration to dive deeper into the mysterious worlds of science fiction and horror.
Christine reminded me a lot of things that I had going on in my life at the time. Of course the car was purely vindictive and the most vengeful thing on the road. But I couldn’t blame her. I appreciated the deeper meaning and...
Day 1: When/how did you become a Stephen King fan?
The first book I ever read by Stephen King was freshman year in High School (yeah I know, I definitely should’ve started reading his books earlier.) So I’m sure everyone knows this already, but public school lunches absolutely SUCKED!!! Especially the ones in DISD (Dallas). So, instead of going to lunch, my best friend and I would spend the period in the library.
I would help...
The Need for More...
Okay… So I really want to post a lot more than I do right now. Going to class, then work afterwards everyday really has halted my efforts.
So I’ve come up with a plan.
I’m going to start a 10 day Stephen King Challenge. He’s the reason why I started writing, so I hope you enjoy it.
1. When did/how did you become a Stephen King fan?
2. First Stephen King Book you read?

Running in Place
I often find myself stuck in an endless jog on this treadmill. It sits in the far corner of my mind. The settings remain the same for each session. The timer set to life, incline adjusted to level twenty, and the speed… Well, the speed always changes. It varies from day to day depending on the most recent thought before my run. Today, I thought about you. I remembered how close we were - the...

Good Times
So….. In general, today has been a pretty awesome day. Work definitely was a lot easier than most days.. I hardly had anything to do and I got free ice cream at the end of the day. =)
But the best part of my day has only begun. Great friends are definitely hard to come by in this world. And when you find good friends, you should hold onto them no matter the circumstances that you encounter...

When the World Stops spinning....
I often wonder where I’ll be when the day comes. No I don’t mean when the world comes to an end and life’s seemingly endless cycle comes to a close. I mean when the Earth itself comes to the conclusion that its tired of this monotonous yearly and daily revolutions that the sun is forcing it through. Have you ever thought about how the Earth must feel, having to live with the fact...
